I would like to invite your organization to participate in a recreation of the Constitutional Convention on Twitter, called Tweet the Debates. Twitter Actors playing delegates will tweet their arguments, as written by James Madison in the Journal of the Debates.


We are reaching out to organizations dedicated to protecting democracy and the U.S. Constitution. With your help, we can educate and engage people in thinking about the fundamental questions of government in our Consitution.


The tweets, which we’ve written and Twitter Actors will rewrite in the voice of their character, will be linked to the full text of the delegate’s speech. Thus, Tweet the Debates will be both a useful tool for Constitutional history study and an opportunity to engage people in a fun discussion about our government. A video on TweettheDebates.com explains the project.


Your organization could participate by nominating a Twitter Actor to play a delegate (videos on the same page explain how easy and how much fun being a delegate can be). Or you could help promote the project to your members, trade links, comment in the online Convention from your own Twitter handle, or get involved in lots of other ways.

I have written a book on democracy entitled “Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained: The True Meaning of Democracy” (acropolis-newyork.com). I devote a chapter to discussing how our oligarchic government can be democratized. Among other suggestions, I recommend two non-consecutive terms for members of both houses. The structure of government needs to be modified if we wish to address the social and ecological issues that confront us.

Interestingly enough, I believe there is some merit to much of this site. What I do not agree with, and is even stated in your organizations title is “democracy”. This country is based on a representative republic. I cannot believe the misinformation and thoughts continually held by the American people assuming we are a “democracy”. It is nearly as irritating as people using the term “democratic party”. It’s the democrat party—not democratic party.

I saw your name in connection with the Harvard Symposium on an Article V Convention.


As an introduction, I work for the House Republican Study Committee as professional staff – and I was also President of the UMASS Republican Club during my time there.


We have been advocating (not on behalf of my organization) in favor of a BBA through an Amendments convention for the past year. This is an approach that was previously endorsed by the Heritage Foundation and is currently endorsed by Cato, NTU, Goldwater Institute and Americans for Prosperity.


We have been meeting with almost every DC group on this topic, and most of them, NTU and Americans for Prosperity in particular, are strongly supporting this idea.


I’d be interested in hearing your perspective on this matter in the proposal, and if you have any ideas on whom else I should speak with on this. Optimally we’d like to receive an endorsement from your organization for this idea.

I deeply respect the job you are doing to rebuild democracy in our country. Personal interest and research leads me to conclude the best way to end gerrymandering is by a Constitutional amendment. I am less convinced that term limits will provide the best legislators in the long run. Have you considered separating your three goals in the interest of a better chance of instituting any one? Some states are attempting to come up with non-partisan commissions to redraw maps, but the process is so uneven and tortuous that no good model has emerged. If you are able to ally conservatives and progressives to work together to find wording for a Constitutional amendment demanding non-partisan redistricting every ten years, I think you would be on the right track towards signigicant reform across the country.

You should contact Ron Paul and see if he would be willing to change parties since he has such i high percentage of military supporters.


ABC NEWS – Ron Paul shares an unusually high percentage of supporters in the military compared to the other candidates and it shows in his campaign funding. The Center for Responsible Politics reports the candidate touted more than $95,000 between September 2011 and January in individual donations from current and former members of the military, higher than any other candidate. Obama comes in second at roughly $72,000.

On Jan. 18th there is going to be an all-out strike on the internet. Websites across the internet are going dark in protest of the internet censorship bills in Congress, SOPA and PIPA.


Some of the biggest sites in the world are participating: Reddit, Mozilla. And some others may join (e.g. a leading micro-blogging platform and a popular collaboratively-written encyclopedia), but they need a nudge. If we can get them to join this will be EPIC.

You would be more effective if you were to lose the term limits idea. it isn’t that one of the many disenfranchised by the money should like a corrupt entrenched politician more than the next person. Term limits is a provisional strategy for dealing with corruption. What we need is to get rid of these interim , provisional, incremental reforms that divert attention from the core question of money in politics. Since gerrymandering is a means by which money protects itself from an aroused public that should be included. The whole problem of money in politics needs to be addressed in comprehensive legislation. Once money in out of politics, term limits is just an unnecessary interference with democratic choice. Incumbents would

no longer have war chests filled with the receipts from the sale of public policy for private interests. Instead they would have to defend their records against challengers using content not money-driven propaganda to get elected.

Your post-partisan approach is highly compatible

I would like to talk to you about this. It looks like you guys are all gung ho and ready to go. I applaud that. However term limits really don’t work. I like the concept, but there is a better solution. We need more than 435 US House reps. That fixes all the problems and it is non partisan. It is a better reform. I kinda think you guys are set in stone right now with the reforms that you have chosen. So, me trying to sway you might be late, but I am going to at least let you know that the real problem is lack of representation. When the districts get smaller, it becomes more difficult to Gerrymander.

The U.S. has never been a democracy. Our founders warned about the democratic form of government and intently focused on the creation of a republic. In fact, the word “democracy” is never mentioned in our constitution.


I support your agenda items, but hope you can understand the conflict of “restore something that never existed or intended” by our founders. My support is for a different reason, as “term limits” help reduce democracy allowing individuals to run for office with an expected departure date. Their political votes will be more aligned with what’s needed rather than what’s needed for re-election. The creation of “law” for a term limit is a concept of the Republic form of government. Democracy’s are inherently designed to be 1) Majority decisions is absolute, and 2) No protections are afforded to the minority (not just racial minorities, but a protection of property rights).


Under “democracy” it’s a rule of the majority (aka mob rule) and under “republic” it’s a rule of law (aka minority rights).


Just my 2 cents. Good luck on your endeavors, as I support your goals, just having a hard time grasping the organizations “title”.
